Katsina Police have arrested and arraigned a 21-year-old student who is accused of raping an eight-year-old. The suspect pleaded not-gulty.
A 21-year-old student, Ahmed Musa, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Katsina, Katsina state for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl.
Musa is alleged to have lured the eight-year-old into the house and forcefully had sex with her.
Student Pulse gathered that he was arrested after one Sakina Muhammad of Kofar-yamma Quarters in Zango reported the incident to the police.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR),, the suspect committed the offence the offence at about 2.30 p.m. on Thursday, 5th of February 2015.
The report stated that the offence contravened Section 283 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty and applied for bail.
But the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Hashima Musa, said investigations are on-going and urged the court to deny the bail application.
Daily Independent reports that the Chief Magistrate, Hajiya Hafsat Bagiwa, said the court would only take cognisance of the case, according to Section 158 (a) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Note, the Ahmed Musa mentined in this report has no connection with the Super Eagles player Ahmed Musa.
